Content Management Systemes for Web Sites

Content Management Systems

Take Control of your Website

  • Modify and add content fast·
  • Test your messages·
  • Run a survey·
  • Optimize your pages for search engines on new issues

Creating and updating a web site used to be the specific domain of the web master – usually a skilled computer programmer with good graphic design skills. The web site was their baby, and only they could tinker with it.

Any change of content had to wait for them to have the time to do the changes. If your website was hosted elsewhere and your webmaster was not on site, changes could take even longer, and were always costly.

However, there has been, particularly over the last few years, a number of new web site “content management systems” appearing on the market. These are web site systems designed to be created, or at least edited, by anyone with a fairly good knowledge of word processing programs. Specific web design knowledge is not needed.

This allows a few things:·

  1. Content can be added rapidly in response to new issues. If the content is added with ‘keywords’ in mind, and if the site is ‘spidered’ regularly, then it can possibly rank well for these keywords very quickly.
  2. Corrections or improvements can be made at will.·
  3. If a pay per click campaign is needed, then specific landing pages can quickly be created to specifically answer any new issues.·
  4. In combination with a web analytics program, pages can be ‘tweeked’ in order to better serve the interests of the guest and make sure the best information is presented.·
  5. By alternating content, A/B testing can tell which content or messages work most successfully.
